The Combine Demo Derby

May and June find us knee deep in birthdays and we end with our sweet daughter, Lily Mae.
Our somewhat quiet and shy girl really, really wanted to go to the Combine Demo Derby in Lind, WA this year.
It was absolutely worth the drive and sooo fun...in a rough and tumble sort of way.
We just had the BEST time and the birthday girl was beaming.

We were lucky enough to bring a cousin along for the ride, too!

Most of these guys were farmers and boy can they drive!
This part of Eastern Washington is known for rolling wheat fields.
I loved this combine complete with the chicken suit driver!

 Too bad he didn't win!
The kids were enthralled...can you see the intensity on the faces of my boys....totally discussing what could be done to make the combines hold up better.
Orange pop always tops off the fun.

 It was LOUD!
Mid way through the event, there was a grain truck race and then a farm truck competition.
I come from a long line of mechanics...so I LOVE this sort of thing.
Most of the trucks that rolled were pushed back over and they just kept on going.
Nobody was hurt:).
We were in the wrong seats though....and we kind of knew it....
When the trucks came around, we were just PEPPERED with dirt.
We were eating it!
Lily LOVED it and so did the boys.
They have aspirations to race when they are old enough.
Hmmmm...

I am so thankful for my sweet, gentle, caring and tough girl.
What an amazing gift she is to us!

Have a lovely Sunday!

Wow! I've never seen anything like it. We have tractor-pulling contests out here, but not combine demo derbies. Happy BIRTH-day to you too, Mommy.

We would go to tractor shows when I was growing up ... always loved the atmosphere there ... and it ended with a combine derby! What fun memories for your children ... they will cherish them when they are older. Thanks for bringing the memories back for me!:)
