Don't Wait to Be Content...

Do you ever find yourself saying things like:

" When we have more money...then I know I will be happier."
"I am not going to do anything to the house until we add on, or move to something bigger and better.'
"Boy, if I had this or that my life would be perfect."

Why do we do things like that?

I think it is human nature to want what we don't have, to think that there are greener pastures over the fence.
I am totally guilty of that mentality and it takes diligence and perseverance to overcome it sometimes.
We all want more in life.
But do you know what?
God wants more for us in life, too!
He wants us to be content...thankful for all that we have.
That doesn't mean that we have to stop dreaming.
Dream big, but ENJOY your life now.
The Lord has wonderful, purposeful plans for you, but if you are not content the door isn't open for that potential to shine through.

So you don't want to decorate and make you home the haven you crave because it isn't perfect...
do it anyway.
Add those elements and touches that make you happy.
Make it gorgeous just the way it is.
Don't let a little discontentment stop you.
Be thankful you have a home to bless your sweet family and others who enter.
Use the gifts and creative nature God gave you.

Maybe there is not enough money to go around.
 Maybe you are unemployed.
Maybe you are losing your house...or are temporarily homeless.
Let those things EMPOWER you.
God IS your strength and He will give you the drive to succeed.

We were in tough spot at one time and I am so very thankful we went through it and came out victorious.
God never left us.
He provided and gave us the courage to work hard and to be brave in the midst of trial.

It wasn't overnight.
If I could change one thing about that period, I would have quit wallowing in self despair, and I would have LIVED.
Lived in spite of no money by giving of myself to others.
Focused more on the little things in my life and giving MOST to my husband and children.
Praying continuously....that is where the strength is.
I would have worked even harder.

I want to encourage you to gather every morsel of bravery and LIVE this year.
Make your life what you want it to be and take a risk.
Step out and just do it in faith.
Happiness is being content, thankful, dreaming big, and living that dream right where you are today.
That is my goal this year for our family.
To become more.
To do more with what we have, and not long so much for what we don't have.

What are your dreams?
I pray that you trust God and leap into an adventurous life!

This is an awesome post. So often I forget just how incredibly blessed I am - just to be alive and breathing. Let alone be a wife AND mother - my cup overflows. Thank you for the reminder and the encouragement!

Can I just say a big Amen to everything you just said??? Being grateful for what I have and not focusing on what I don't have is one of my biggest goals for this year. {And living life to the fullest in the process!} Great post Julia!

Thank you so much for this post. Somehow I missed it but saw it recommended underneath your current post.

You speak truth, Julia. And nothing is more beautiful than raw truth. Thank you for these reminders. You may have written this back in February, but I promise - you wrote it for me to read today.
