Bedroom Re-Do...

Lily and Jack decided they were ready for a little bedroom re-do...or maybe I should call it an "up-do."
We put the bunks up, and so far Jack has not been tempted to pretend the top is a trampoline.
Whew!

They have so much more room to play, which is a wonderful thing in a small house.
Most days, there are race car tracks, baby clothes, and legos strewn about.
I love that they have their own space to create and use their imaginations!

Can you tell I don't iron my sheets...haha.

Lily loves flowers...Jack loves cars.
We try to include a little of both to make them happy campers.
I also added the table and antique white chair as a place to color and create art projects.
It is great for tea parties, too:).

Lily actually embroidered the beautiful little bunny picture.
I was so excited to frame it and hang it in their room

If you would like to read about how we put the room together for about $200 {including beds, mattresses, and bedding} you can click here.

 Here is a before picture:

We changed the wall color from "Butter Cream" to Dutch Boy's "White Oak" and I really like the subtle contrast. The wainscoting is Dutch Boy's "Whipped White."
I have tried so many whites and this one has been perfect!

Beside spending $40 on two gallons of paint, the room re-do was free.
The darling table and chairs were gifts.
My Mom found the antique white chair at a yard sale for $1.

We just love to switch things up and the kids feel like it is a whole new room.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Can I just beam myself over there?! So wonderfully light and simple. I love the idea of the legos in the bowl on the table and the high chair is awesome. :)

Love it! Your bunks are so cute... Love the turned spindles. Seriously, iron sheets!? I'm not even sure if I'd get to that if I didn't sleep, lol!

I love it! Especially since it for a boy and a girl. I have an almost one year old boy and a little girl due in a month. We only have a two bedroom and I've been worrying about having them share a room and how it would all work. Your post made me feel better about having them share a room. I can find a way to mix girl style and boy style too.

I just adore this room! My girls would have loved a space like this. Having space for a table and chairs is a great feature.

I love the bunny embroidery that your daughter did so much that I'd love my daughter's little sewing club to do it as a project. Is the pattern available? Would you please email me (cddupee at gmail dot com) and let me know.

Thanks so much,
Carolyn

Hi Julia, Kath from Australia here. Lovely room redo, a beautiful peaceful sleeping space. Makayla, don't worry about mixing your kids up in a room...I have two teenage girls, 19 & 17 and my son, 10, all together in a converted attic, partitions but no doors. They have survived this well over the years, and learnt tolerance and consideration. Look forward to reading more of your blog Julia.
